SKHOOP’s Original Skirt is where it all started. One extremely cold winter morning in 1999, SKHOOP's founder Sissi Kewenter was about to take her dog for a walk in Åre, Sweden. Putting on traditional snow pants seemed like a nuisance at the time, but the further away from her house that they walked, the colder she got. As she began to freeze, Sissi started creatively developing the first insulated cover skirt as she raced back home where the Original Skirt was born.
The Original Skirt is the perfect warm accessory for those cold winter days, a perfect layer for long dog walks or just waiting for the bus.

These skirts are one of the best creations ever! I bought my first one years ago, which is still in great shape, and just bought a new one in black. I live in Fairbanks Alaska, and my first skirt changed my experience of winter- it’s like having an easy to put on warm coat for the lower half of your body - and once I had one, I couldn’t imagine how I’d lived so long without that!
I love the skirt and the warmth it provides while waiting for students to load buses in the cold Wisconsin winter. Only wish is for a little more room for my long stride. I unzip a bit to accommodate.
Skirt the cold
I bought this for my wife for Christmas. She LOVES it! Perfect for trips to the gym or store, very warm, not bulky like snow pants. Stylish, too. This skirt is a winner all around.
This is my best purchase ever!!!
Words can't express how much I love this skirt. It's the thing I didn't know I needed my entire life. I bought two sizes because I was unsure of my sizing and I'm keeping both. I'm 5'5", 140 and athletic and I find the medium is great for walking around town or hiking. I got the large for lounging in my drafty house (the looser fit means it is longer and goes down to my ankles). Man I just love this so much. I sleep hot but I'm cold all the time otherwise. I love throwing this on with lightweight joggers or leggings in the morning to walk the dog. I love being able to just throw on an extra layer without having to completely change. So freeing!!!!
Never looked back
First, I’ve had my first skirt for nine winters. Have never had to wash it and I work in a school! I have several of your skirts ( the merino tops too) and keeping warm in your clothes is truly life changing if you are in a colder climate. Prairie winters in Canada- was -36 (-47 with wind and that is a normal low here) and I was warmer than my plugged in vehicle. Seriously warm clothes when being warm can be a safety issue. And durable, I would not hesitate to repurchase.
